Hesse Rural Health Service was formed in 1994 from the amalgamation of Beeac and District Hospital Leigh Community Care Centre and the Winchelsea and District Hospital. Since that time Hesse has developed into a key integrated rural health-care service within the three local government areas of Surf Coast Colac Otway and Golden Plains. A broad range of services include: Aged Residential Acute Hospital Emergency Community Health Home Nursing Medical Rehabilitation and Palliative Care.Chelsea Lodge hostel is a separate community entity formed in 1986 and registered with the Commonwealth Department of Health andAgeing as the Winchelsea Hostel and Nursing Home Society Inc. Chelsea Lodge is a boutique 21 bed residential aged care service located in Winchelsea a country town by the Barwon River just 25 minutes from both Geelong and Colac on the Princes Highway and 1 hour 20 minutes from Melbourne. Operated by Hesse Rural Health Chelsea Lodge is co-located with the Winchelsea Hospital. The 21 ensuited rooms are private with carpet flooring and a single bed. Large windows look out onto beautifully kept gardens and paddocks with farm animals including sheep and alpacas. Ample storage and display shelving is available. The bathroom amenities include a toilet walk in shower basin cabinet and sensor lighting. Private telephones are available for each room on request with a one off setup fee and call costs only. Free to air television points are installed and an 8 channel Foxtel connection available for a small additional cost. Meals are cooked on site and served fresh from the oven. Bookings for visiting family members who may wish to join a resident for a meal may be arranged.
