Gold Coast Aged Care welcomes Berlasco Court Caring Centre in Indooroopilly, QLD 4068 residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms by bringing items from their previous homes.

Berlasco Court Caring Centre is a 60 bed residential aged care facility catering for those who have been assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team as being high care. It is owned by the Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland who recognised the need for such a facility and purchased the property in 1988. Berlasco Court specialises in the care of those from Culturally and Linguistic Diverse backgrounds. At any one time there are around 20 different CALD groups represented. The service is not limited to those from CALD backgrounds catering to all who wish to receive quality care. Staff are recruited and selected from a range of CALD backgrounds in order to meet the cultural and language needs of the Residents. They undergo a rigorous education and training program with an emphasis on cultural awareness and sensitivity. This program also ensures that staff are kept up to date with new policy and procedure as well as receiving regular updates on important issues such as Workplace Health and Safety and Fire and Emergency Evacuation. Berlasco Court is a brick building with 2 wings and a central core. The upper levels are serviced by a lift and all 60 rooms are single occupancy with shared ensuite as well as dementia secure facilities. All hotel services are carried out on site with all meals prepared on the premises. The facility is located close to bus and rail services is 1 km away from one Brisbane's largest urban shopping centre at Indooroopilly. The building is slowly being upgraded to meet the strict certification standards required for residential aged care. As a not for profit organisation there is limited funding available for capital improvements however the building program is progressing slowly but surely and a significant amount of time and effort is currently being spent in discussion around Strategic planning for the site. Staff at Berlasco Court are committed to providing a high standard of care and believe in a resident centred approach to care that includes family friends and community in a flexible environment that is responsive to the needs of all.
